Trauma-Informed Care We understand that many of the things that bring people to therapy — anxiety, relationship difficulties, low self-worth, emotional dysregulation — have roots in experiences that happened long before the current moment. Everything we do is shaped by an understanding of how trauma lives in the body, the mind, and the patterns we carry across time
Culturally Responsive Practice Your cultural background, identity, and community aren't separate from your mental health — they're central to it. We work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and take seriously the ways that migration, intergenerational experience, acculturation, and identity shape how we feel, how we relate, and what healing looks like.
Neuroaffirming Practice We work with and for neurodivergent people. That means we don't treat ADHD, autism, or other neurological differences as problems to fix. We work with your neurology, not against it — helping you understand yourself, reduce shame, build on your strengths, and find strategies that actually fit your brain.

Children & Adolescents Young people deserve a therapist who takes them seriously. We work with children and teenagers on anxiety, school difficulties, emotional regulation, identity, neurodiversity, family stress, and more — using approaches adapted to their developmental stage and always with family context in mind where appropriate.
Adults Whether you're coming to therapy for the first time or returning after years away, adult therapy at Iyashi Psychology meets you where you are — with no assumptions and no judgment.
Older Adults Later life brings its own particular joys and its own particular challenges. We work with older adults navigating health changes, loss, identity shifts, and everything in between.
What to Expect

The first session is about getting to know each other. Your therapist will ask about what's brought you in, your background, and what you're hoping for — but there's no pressure to share everything at once. You set the pace.

Sessions are typically 50 minutes and held weekly or fortnightly, depending on your needs and goals. Therapy isn't linear — some sessions will feel like breakthroughs, others like maintenance. Both matter.

This varies widely depending on what you're working on. Some people find significant relief in 8–12 sessions; others are working on deeper, longer-standing patterns that benefit from extended work. We review goals and progress regularly so you're always clear on where things are at.

We currently offer telehealth appointments, acknowledging the convenience this affords you in your everyday life.
We know that one size doesn’t always fit all, however, and so we are launching in-person options from 2027.
Fees & Funding
Medicare Rebates With a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from your GP, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates on up to 10 individual therapy sessions per calendar year. We'll help you understand how this works.
NDIS We work with NDIS participants who are self-managed or plan-managed. Therapy can be funded under your plan's Improved Daily Living supports.
Private Health Insurance Depending on your level of extras cover, your private health fund may contribute to therapy costs. We recommend checking directly with your provider.
Out-of-Pocket Fees We are transparent about fees from the outset. Please contact us for current session rates.

No — you can self-refer. However, a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP will allow you to access Medicare rebates, so it's worth that conversation if cost is a consideration.

That uncertainty is completely normal, and honestly, it's something you can bring into the room. Many people aren't sure — and a first session is often the best way to find out.

We hear this often, and we take it seriously. Past experiences of feeling unheard, misunderstood, or like therapy just wasn't working don't mean therapy can't work — it may mean it wasn't the right fit. We work hard to earn trust and to be honest when something isn't working.

Yes. We are bound by strict professional and legal confidentiality obligations. We'll discuss the limits of confidentiality — including mandatory reporting obligations — transparently in your first session.
